Project Inferno
Project INFERNO is a completely student designed Liquid Engine Test Stand, using a dual-propellant pressure-fed system that has cryogenic and variable flow capabilities. The objective of INFERNO is to be a test bed for projects involving Liquid Engines - engine design, regenerative cooling, new propellant combinations, thrust vectoring and engine throttling. An existing system will dramatically reduce the building time and upfront cost necessary for liquid engines, increasing the depth and breadth of opportunities for students in this very niche field. This year the team will assemble the first iteration of INFERNO based on the student designed FREEDOM liquid engine and fluids system. The modularity of the fluids system, test stand and thrust structure provide flexibility for future FREEDOM based testing as well as newly developed engines systems.
