ExoBronco

This year, Exo is aiming to build MTD 3 to verify the design of the new stage separation mechanism. It involves drag separation which maximizes the drag difference between booster and sustainer and minimizes the friction between interstage and sustainer. This rocket is aiming to hit about ~15000 ft. apogee. We will be owning a lot of the design process - from initial design and CAD modeling, to manufacturing, to component-level testing. This would become the first ever successful 2-stage rocket launch done by Cal Poly Pomona!

If the launch is successful, we will be moving to a larger 2-stage rocket called Exo 0 with the goal of maximizing altitude! This rocket is still in the preliminary phases but aims to hit a ~50000 ft. apogee. This would be the highest apogee rocket ever launched by Cal Poly Pomona!
