UMBRA Electronics (UE) designs custom hardware and software, powering UMBRA’s most ambitious rocketry projects. Our work has a multitude of applications such as deployment, data acquisition, and communications to meet the needs of high-powered rocketry. These systems are crucial to the success of every UMBRA project, gathering critical information that informs future design decisions and functioning as the brains of every rocket launched. Our team members are passionate in their pursuit of electronics experience, turning complex requirements into precise and reliable systems that take rocketry to the next level and push the boundaries of student-led innovation.  

 

UE is a multidisciplinary team, combining people of aerospace, mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering backgrounds, allowing students to gain a wider understanding of rocketry in all areas. By working on projects that range from flight control systems to ground support equipment and telemetry, our members engage in hands-on learning and hone their ability to take on complex engineering challenges. We strive to help our members develop and refine skills in areas such as printed circuit board design, embedded systems, communications, testing, and integration.
