Project Lazarus
UMBRA's return to competitive rocketry, Project Lazarus; partnering with the department of defense, was made with the goal of returning UMBRA to the intercollegiate competition scene, starting with Friends of Amateur Rocketry's Unlimited Competition. The project cycle, lasting one academic year, will focus first on research and design for not only a launch vehicle, but also a payload, deployment device, and several other internal systems that ensure the rocket performs at the optimal level under the competition rules. In the second half, the project will shift to focus on extensive physical performance tests, and full scale manufacturing of the final rocket. More importantly though, Project Lazarus seeks to lay a foundation of project structure, documentation, and transfer of knowledge that will allow UMBRA teams to compete in a variety of competitions, and win them, for years to come.
